Turkish Airlines has announced an expansion of air service between Canada and Türkiye that will bring the number of direct flights between the two countries to 23 per week.
The announcement was made during a special reception hosted by Turkish Airlines at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The event brought together the Ambassador of Türkiye to Canada, the Consul General of Türkiye, representatives of Transport Canada, Members of Parliament, and community leaders.
According to the announcement, the additional flights will strengthen air connectivity between Canada and Türkiye and provide passengers with greater flexibility when travelling between the two countries.
The expanded service is expected to benefit families, tourists, students, professionals and members of the Turkish community in Canada who maintain close connections with Türkiye. More frequent direct flights can also support cultural and educational exchanges by making travel between the two countries more accessible.
Tourism is expected to be among the sectors benefiting from the expansion. Türkiye remains a popular international destination for Canadian travellers, while Canada continues to welcome visitors from Türkiye. Increased flight frequency could support further growth in two-way tourism and encourage greater cultural exchange.
Stronger air connectivity may also contribute to growing economic relations between Canada and Türkiye. More frequent direct service can facilitate business travel, international meetings, professional exchanges, investment opportunities and cooperation between institutions in both countries.
Turkish Airlines also provides Canadian passengers with connections to destinations beyond Türkiye through its hub at Istanbul Airport. Its international network allows travellers connecting through Istanbul to reach destinations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and other regions.
The reception at Toronto Pearson provided diplomatic officials, government representatives and community leaders with an opportunity to discuss the importance of maintaining and expanding connections between Canada and Türkiye.
